Akashiya Sanma (real name: Sugimoto Takafumi, born July 1, 1955) is a Japanese comedian, TV personality, actor, and presenter from Nara City, Nara Prefecture. He has become an iconic figure in Japanese variety shows with his humor and unique talking style. He is affiliated with Yoshimoto Kogyo.
Career Highlights
Debut and Breakthrough: Akashiya Sanma debuted as a comedian in the 1970s through his work in Yoshimoto Kogyo’s theaters. He became widely known through his appearance on “Oretachi Hyokinki-zoku” in the early 1980s.
